On May 18th, 2007 the Schema Monk Nathanael fell asleep in the Lord. It was my great blessing to be able to attend his funeral and participate as a layman. Father was many greater things in his own right, but to me he was my godfather, a spiritual father and a mentor within the arts. He had the most brilliant hands of anyone I have ever met. During my first years within Orthodoxy he provided a private bridge without which those years would have been impossible.
Father was a very visual person and it has been hard to pick which pictures to post here; the three I have chosen are (from top to bottom): The vigil service at St. Theodore’s House; a photo of Father’s prayer corner; and a photo taken during our last family trip down to the monastery in which he is holding my youngest daughter, Adele.
For those interested, and for those who knew him, I’ve posted a copy of the memorial announcement here.
