Pigment Maps: Formation

I’m only just beginning to envision what the paper pigment maps might be.  But, to give a rough idea of what I’m thinking about, here’s an example I was working on this morning.

This feels good.  I feel like I’m creating something that is part of my own art praxis.  I see these maps maybe being folded and stored within an atlas of local place colours (I spent some time in my second semester bookbinding and creating a, “journal”).  But, that’s for later …

I’m mapping these pigments minimalistically, using simply circles, lines and four symbols.  I’m also playing with examples that include penciled notes.  I’ve still got a lot of questions too: How carefully these maps should be executed (freehand vs. ruler); inclusion of the notes; symbols; etc..
